This award is open to crowdfunding platforms, business angel networks, syndicates or individual investors, as well as small businesses who have received the investment. The nominated deal should include both crowdfunding and angel finance and should demonstrate the combined added value of the crowdfunding and the angel finance to address the funding and growth needs of the business.
The judges will seek to identify evidence of the role played by the investors, the growth potential of the company as well as the impact the funding has had on the company in terms of supporting its plans to achieve high growth going forward.

About the Isle of Man Department of Economic Development

The Isle of Man Department of Economic Development was keen to sponsor this particular award once again as the Isle of Man has been active for many years in working with Business Angels and other providers of ‘alternative’ or ‘complementary’ finance in supporting SME’s to grow. In fact the island has recently announced the formation of a new not for profit Business Angel network called ‘Bridge’, which will help compliment the new £50million Enterprise Development Scheme launched on 1st April 2016.

The Isle of Man Financial Services Authority also announced on 1st May 2016 that the island has become the first International Business Centre to create a new regulatory framework for Investment & Debt based Crowdfunding platforms to establish on island. This framework is designed to support platforms ready to take their business ‘international’ and wish to set up in a jurisdiction with a strong and robust economic and regulatory environment.

These are all exciting steps for the island as with over 30 years’ experience as an International Business and Finance Centre and a with a large and growing E-business sector the island is perfectly placed to help the platforms, businesses and investors / lenders alike.
